Step 1: Get your LinkedIn data export

LinkedIn needs to package your data. This usually takes a few minutes but can take up to 24 hours. Start this now so it's ready when you come back.

1On a computer (this isn't available in the LinkedIn mobile app), go to LinkedIn and click Me (your profile photo, top right)
2Click Settings & Privacy
3Click Data Privacy in the left menu
4Click Get a copy of your data (some accounts label this Download your data)
5Choose the larger data archive option (the full file, with your connections and messages), then click Request archive. LinkedIn may ask for your password.
6LinkedIn usually emails a first zip within minutes. That one has your connections and messages, which is everything this report needs, so use it and do not wait for a second file. LinkedIn sometimes promises a larger archive later that is slow or never arrives; you can ignore it. If a second zip does show up, you can add it here too. The download link is good for 72 hours.

The single highest-value field here. Name even 3 and your report maps exactly who you already know inside them, and the warm way in. Optional, but skipping it leaves that map empty.

Use the exact company name as it appears on LinkedIn. E.g. JPMorgan Chase not "JP Morgan", Twilio not "Twillio", Meta not "Facebook". Common variants are handled automatically.
