Step 1: Get your LinkedIn data export

LinkedIn needs to package your data. This usually takes a few minutes but can take up to 24 hours. Start this now so it's ready when you come back.

1On a computer (this isn't available in the LinkedIn mobile app), go to LinkedIn and click Me (your profile photo, top right)
2Click Settings & Privacy
3Click Data Privacy in the left menu
4Click Get a copy of your data (some accounts label this Download your data)
5Choose the larger data archive option (the full file, with your connections and messages), then click Request archive. LinkedIn may ask for your password.
6LinkedIn will email you a zip file, often within minutes but sometimes up to 24 hours. The download link is only good for 72 hours, so grab it when it arrives, then come back here.
